摘要: Solidification and disposal in an on-site landfill proved the most economical means of disposing 5,000,000 gallons (1.9 × 10\u7 L) 30-year old refinery oil sludge. Standard highway construction equipment mixed fresh stale cement kiln dust with sludge, thereby solidifying it. A variety solidification agents were tested. They included: clay, sulphur, fly ash, dust, quick lime, waste sand, crushed limestone screenings, combinations these. Fresh found to be best agents, producing fill good compressive strength while costing $6.00 $4.55 per ton ($6.62 $5.02/Mg), respectively. The optimum mixing ratio by weight sludge was 1:1, for 1:2. cost $0.08 gallon ($0.02/L), or $16.16 yd³($21.11/m³). This method created a that is suitable as industrial-construction site.
