摘要: A geographical information system (GIS) was used to map the current distribution of Sumatran orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus abelii) population in Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP), North Sumatra. From this, vegetation cover orangutan’s calculated. Vegetation and density estimates within different types were estimate overall numbers. In addition, effects potential land-use changes on analyzed using GIS. The scenarios modelled with GIS were: (1) forest loss surrounding GLNP; (2) road construction through (3) all low-hill (4) legal status park boundaries. This analysis helped guide recommendations for conservation management wild orangutans GLNP.
