Photonic‐on‐a‐chip: a thermal actuated Mach‐Zehnder interferometer and a molecular thermometer based on a single di‐ureasil organic‐inorganic hybrid

摘要: An integrated photonic-on-a-chip device based on a single organic-inorganic di-ureasil hybrid was fabricated for optical waveguide and temperature sensing. The is composed by thermal actuated Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer operating with switching power of 0.011 W maximum difference between branches 0.89 oC. MZ covered Eu3+/Tb3+ co-doped luminescent molecular thermometer uncertainty 0.1oC spatial resolution 13 µm. This an uncommon example in which the same material (an hybrid) that used to fabricate particular (a thermal-actuated interferometer) also measure one intrinsic properties (the temperature). discussed here can be applied sense gradients high (10−3 oC·µm−1) chip-scale heat engines or refrigerators, magnetic nanocontacts energy-harvesting machines.
