摘要: OBJECTIVES: To understand the stigma and discrimination experienced by men who have sex with (MSM) in Chengdu to evaluate their impact on effective HIV prevention. METHODS: Focus group discussions individual in-depth interviews were conducted from June September 2006. RESULTS: Stigma social pressure for MSM reported mainly arise families get married children protect family reputation lineage. Few participants experiencing friends colleagues or general society. Nevertheless fear of being ostracized because sexual orientation was frequently expressed a major barrier participating HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Fear related infection inside community also identified as reason reluctance seek testing treatment. CONCLUSIONS: homosexual activities HIV/sexually transmitted disease been barriers seeking health services. programs must be sensitive issues both outside community.
