摘要: Though numerous investigators have recorded observations on the number of stomata present in various species, comparatively little is known respecting causes their numerical variation. Studies “sun” and “shade” leaves woodland plants brought to light striking differences which frequency may exhibit same species when growing different environments even individual. Various hypotheses been put forward explain larger sun-leaves. These will be considered later, but we note here apparent discrepancy with Ziegeler that more xerophytic Carices possess fewer than those characteristic damper habitats. Spitzer obtained similar results from an examination Grasses Adamson appears arrived at a conclusion regard Veronica studied by him (“Comparative anatomy certain Veronica,” " ‘Linn. Soc.
