摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter has surveyed the current state of econometric models and methods for analysis qualitative dependent variables. It discusses that economic optimization are presumed to govern conventional continuous decisions equally appropriate discrete response. While intensive marginal conditions associated with many not applicable, characterization agents as optimizers implies at extensive margin substantive restrictions on functional form. Unless tenets behavioral theory themselves under test, it is good practice impose these maintained hypotheses in construction response models. As a formulation terms latent variable makes clear, share features systems. Thus problems arising main stream mostly transfer directly Divergences from properties standard linear model arise nonlinearity rather than discreteness variable. Thus, most developments nonlinear systems apply In summary, variables part continuing development technique match real characteristics behavior data.
