摘要: Major electrical injury causes widespread tissue destruction. Slow and incomplete functional recovery after electrocution-type has led clinicians to suspect residual brain damage. One hundred one consecutive patients who were admitted the hospital because of studied. Forty-eight had electric-current injury. The other 53 flash, contact, or arcing burns (electrical without passage current). A primary study cohort 16 with 18 current received specialized trauma-based psychiatric treatment, which was coordinated serial auditory neurologic studies. This strategy served highlight discrepancies between preinjury postinjury performance. Twelve showed neurobehavioral (organic) dysfunction 1 year, implied damage; eight persistent changes. Four met criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder year; none dysfunction. These findings indicate that are at risk permanent damage, whereas those types not. Language: en
