The location of the high-latitude polar cusp and the shape of the surrounding magnetopause

摘要: Hawkeye magnetic field measurements have been used to determine the location of magnetopause in vicinity polar cusp. We can clearly distinguish lines above cusp from those below and thus well identify statistical As expected, we find that depends strongly on dipole tilt angle. However, there appears be no indentation surrounding contrast models are frequently drawn. At noon meridian is at a latitude nearly 82° for northward interplanetary (IMF) 80° southward IMF. This more swept back than such as N. Tsyganenko but less computer simulation C. Wu. In our study, both geocentric solar magnetospheric (GSM) (SM) coordinates used. GSM order high-altitude position slightly better SM coordinates.
