摘要: The Gene Ontology (GO) is a formidable resource, but there are several considerations about it that essential to understand the data and interpret correctly. GO sufficiently simple can be used without deep understanding of its structure or how developed, which both strength weakness. In this chapter, we discuss some common misinterpretations ontology annotations. A better pitfalls biases in should help users make most very rich resource. We also review misconceptions misleading assumptions commonly made GO, including effect incompleteness, importance annotation qualifiers, transitivity lack thereof associated with different relations. confound aggregate analyses such as gene enrichment analyses. For each these biases, suggest remedies best practices.
