摘要: : Hatcheries have been built and operated to buffer salmon trout populations from overfishing compensate for habitat lost or degraded by human activities. These facilities are now so prevalent that in some cases hatchery-produced outnumber produced the wild. By default, this makes them an important component current ecology evolution of salmonids. Hatcheries differ natural environments many ways, among most fundamental is necessity humans select fish breeding instead allowing processes mate choice competition. We examined mating system steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) at Forks Creek Hatchery southwest Washington investigated factors affecting selection individual spawning hatchery staff. Despite efforts staff not spawn selectively, data on spawned over 7 years revealed large adult body size early reproductive timing a tendency size-assortative (i.e., with large). Selection was related because returning tended be larger than those later. To improve fitness both destined wild designated hatchery, better understanding associated range success mate-choice mechanisms vital. This knowledge may then applied artificial propagation programs designed conservation enhancement. Examinamos sistema apareamiento arco iris Criadero suroeste e investigamos factores afectan individuos desove parte trabajadores criadero.
