摘要: Abstract Stress has been implicated as a risk factor of various major health problems, such stress-induced gastric mucosal injury. This study was performed to investigate the action pure preparation tocotrienol (T3) concentrate, made up 90% δ-tocotrienol and 10% γ-tocotrienol, on injury rats induced by water-immersion restraint stress (WIRS). Fourteen male Sprague-Dawley (200-250 g) were divided into two equal groups: control group treated group. The treatment received T3 concentrate at 60 mg/kg body weight daily for 28 days. weights recorded before given. At end period, all subjected WIRS 3.5 hours, following which euthanized. stomachs isolated opened along greater curvature examination lesions measurements malondialdehyde (MDA) prostaglandin E₂ (PGE₂) contents. mean lesion index in significantly lower than that rats. suggests ability confer protection mucosa against acute stress. No significant difference observed changes after treatment. PGE2 content both groups comparable. However, MDA higher compared group, indicating supplementation not able reduce lipid peroxidation process. concludes protect from non-antioxidant mechanism.
