摘要: Many states have recently adopted programs to encourage smokers quit. Here, we seek evidence that strategies generally used by these the potential influence smoking cessation. In California, 1,736 from a population-based telephone survey were interviewed in 1990 and 1992. We examined association of demographic program-related variables (reporting work area bans; belief harmfulness environmental tobacco smoke, including in-home restrictions; quitting assistance) with progress. Smokers categorized into levels previously developed Quitting Continuum, which considers their addiction level history. each higher continuum category had an increased likelihood future successful progressed if they at 1992 than 1990. College graduates showed 2.3 times more progress did high school dropouts. reporting bans 1.6 workers not such restrictions. strongest beliefs (home restrictions) regarding smoke 3.4 no belief. who reported having some form cessation assistance 3.0 The factors reported, rate was: 13.1% for those factors, 23.4% one factor, 40.6% two or more. These results suggest but do prove promoted statewide control can potentially be effective efforts should continued expanded.
