摘要: Proteolytic enzymes are involved in almost all biological processes reflecting their importance health and disease. The human genome contains nearly 600 protease-encoding genes forming more than 2% of the total proteome. serine proteases, with about 180 members, built oldest second largest family proteases. Ten years ago, a novel protease named type II transmembrane (TTSP) was identified. This minireview summarizes up-to-date knowledge still growing TTSPs, particularly focusing on pathophysiological functions member (TMPRSS) 4. Recent studies provided important data TMPRSS4 activity associated spreading influenza viruses, mediated by cleavage hemagglutinin. Progression metastatic potential several cancers is concordant an increased expression TMPRSS4, though being possible diagnostic marker. However, to benefit from as therapeutic target, concerning its physiological relevance needed, done specific morpholino knockdown zebrafish embryos.
