摘要: The invasive alien crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus is considered harmful to freshwater pearl mussels Margaritifera laevis and M. togakushiensis. It also often colonises mussel habitats in Japan. In order test the negative effects of on mussels, we evaluated predation impact signal vitro. We tested relationship between survival/injury rates with respect different sizes (four classes based shell length: 10, 30, 50 70 mm). Crayfish selectively fed flesh 10-mm size class after breaking their shells. margins all were injured by crayfish. Results showed that particularly 50-mm mussels. This observation could be attributed this being most suitable (29.56–37.73 mm carapace length) can effectively hold. study shows presence reduces populations damaging and/or killing not only decreases population but limit recruitment, growth reproduction.
