摘要: Deregulation of the transcription factor E2F-1 is a common event in most human cancers. Paradoxically, has been shown to have ability induce both cell cycle progression and programmed death, leading potentially tumour-promoting as well tumour-suppressive effects. Although pathway seems straightforward with number growth-promoting E2F target genes having described, pathways apoptosis are less defined more complex. The discovery that 'knockout' mice highly tumour prone caused recent surge reports relating death. This review focuses on these findings, highlighting way which they increased our understanding E2F-1-induced indicating questions remain. Insight gained role this intriguing molecule cancer its potential for targeted therapy will also be discussed.
