摘要: The further education sector in England and Wales has been marketized. Colleges are now corporations, business practices have adopted wholesale a new managerialism is clearly evident. Economic rationalist discourse, cult of the individual growing emphasis on promises technology all major features today. In this paper, I want to argue that these changes not simply result global restructuring economy New Right politics, but can be seen as direct descendant deeply patriarchal philosophical trends history Western thought. Cartesian mind/body dichotomy, with its gendered, racialized classed implications, replayed within discourses economic rationality, masculinist mythologies technology. will far from being neutral rational, newly marketized colleges embody those irrational dangerous elements usually reserved for ‘Others’.
