摘要: The effect of ice ages in speciation and diversification is well established the literature. In Europe, Iberian, Italian Balkan peninsulas comprise main glacial refugia, where subsequent re-population Europe started. Though not studied as extensively, Anatolia has also been hinted to be a potential refugium for with its proximity Caucasus Middle East at same time, exhibit high levels intraspecific diversity. more ubiquitous use cheaper availability molecular methods globally now makes it possible better understand ecology evolution fauna flora genetically understudied regions world, such Anatolia. this review, genetic studies undertaken last decade, 29 species plants animals, are examined determine general phylogeographic patterns. regard, two major patterns observed defined, showing breaks within between Balkans. A third pattern outlined, which suggests may center diversity surrounding regions. discussed terms their relevance location suture zones, postglacial expansion scenarios, geographic barriers gene flow divergence time estimates, order geological history on evolutionary inhabitant species. view current state knowledge delineated future research directions suggested.
