摘要: The blood flow in the ear of African elephant Loxodonta africana was measured In anaesthetized animals using dye dilution technique at same time as arterio-venous temperature difference. calculated heat loss from is shown to be a substantial proportion total metabolic heat-loss requirement body surface area estimations. Reasons are advanced for believing that controlled interests thermoregulation. Behavioural fanning activity and large volume ratio suggest this organ major importance thermoregulation under warm environmental conditions.
