摘要: Abstract The ontogeny of innervation the cholinergic fibres from basal forebrain into cingulate, frontal, parietal and piriform cortices rat has been examined using a modified histochemical method acetylcholinesterase (AChE). produced crisp fibre staining with enhanced visibility clear back-ground, pattern distribution these was comparable to that achieved by choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) immunocytochemistry. In rat, AChE-stained developed progressively deep cortical white matter towards cortex itself. general, few AChE-positive were seen in subcortical cingulum bundle, entering cerebral about 5 postnatal days. number processes increased dramatically during following two weeks. Thereafter, general appearance overall AChE changed little, but density became gradually more intense 28 days after birth it virtually indistinguishable adult. onset development network varied considerably between individual regions, indicated, an anterior posterior gradient. Within dispersed cortex, three bands relatively enriched processes, namely cortical, mid-cortical superficial layers, ‘inside-out’ fashion. exact position some AChE-rich one region another development. A striking correlation observed changing patterns activity ChAT, enzyme synthesizing acetylcholine. present findings can also provide important anatomical baseline for future studies related factors controlling expression ChAT neurotransmitter system rat.
