摘要: Lake Calumet is located south of Michigan in the United States. It a site former landfills and abandoned industrial facilities, yet place economical ecological significance for future development area. Marshes surrounding are ecologically significant to Black-crowned Night-Heron, but hydrology area has been greatly impacted by large amount landfilling constantly changing land use drainage uplands. To prevent ecosystem degradation, recreate local economic base, City Chicago Department Environment leading community groups other agencies develop plans restore region recreational Millions dollars will be invested this effort. Hydrologic hydraulic models have developed support plan an park region. These serve as basis determining best water management strategies cluster adjacent open spaces, known Indian Ridge Marsh (IRM). The coupled hydrologic model was used evaluate impacts different remedial options proposed site, well upland properties marsh watersheds assess adequacy existing outlets terms long-range goals. This paper evaluates five scenarios cope with flooding establish more suitable environment Night-Heron nests areas controlling level fluctuations. Our study showed that diverting surface runoff from appeared option limiting fluctuations around 8 inches IRM. Ten fluctuation maximum
