摘要: Today’s Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) systems assimilate meteorological observations from a variety of sources. This information is used operationally to update the analysis global or regional three-dimensional fields. The resulting enables then issue weather forecasts prime importance for many users. Occultation data collected by refraction signals Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in atmospheric limb contain temperature and water vapor content. paper reviews assimilation techniques, contained GNSS occultation how it pertains observational needs today’s NWP systems. Recent forecast impact experiments are reviewed, specific areas further discussed.
