摘要: Abstract. Measurements from a 2-D video disdrometer (2DVD) have been used for drop size distribution (DSD) comparisons with co-located Parsivel measurements in Huntsville, Alabama. The were made terms of the mass-weighted mean diameter, Dm, standard deviation mass-spectrum, σm, and rainfall rate, R, all based on 1-min DSD two instruments. Time series show close agreement three parameters cases where R was less than 20 mm h−1. In four cases, discrepancies seen "heavy" events, showing higher σm when reached high values (particularly above 30 h−1). Possible causes include presence small percentage non-fully melted hydrometers, expected fall velocity very different axis ratios as compared rain, indicating hail or ice pellets graupel. We also present here Parsivel-to-Parsivel well between 2DVD instruments, namely low-profile unit latest generation, "compact unit" which installed at same site November 2009. are included to assess variability types instrument. Correlation coefficients fractional errors compared.
