摘要: The preglacial Teays River, which rose in Tertiary time the vicinity of Blue Ridge North Carolina, flowed across north-central Indiana and turned south through present lower Wabash Valley to discharge its water into Gulf Embayment southern tip Illinois. That portion valley northern Indiana, as well that western Ohio, was buried beneath Pleistocene glacial plain. Its route this area has been traced, by means records. Along west side River flows deeply alluviated Valley. Well records indicate position floor. a gradient approximately 8 inches per mile; bedrock floor drops from an altitude 463 feet northwestern Jay County 229 southwestern Posey County.
