摘要: Periprosthetic joint infection continues to frustrate the medical community. Although demand for total arthroplasty is increasing, burden of such infections increasing even more rapidly, and they pose a unique challenge because their accurate diagnosis eradication can prove elusive. This review describes current knowledge regarding treatment periprosthetic infection. A number tools are available aid in establishing These include erythrocyte sedimentation rate, serum C-reactive protein concentration, synovial white blood-cell count differential, imaging studies, tissue specimen culturing, histological analysis. Multiple definitions have been proposed but there no consensus. Tools under investigation diagnose concentration fluid, point-of-care strip tests leukocyte esterase other molecular markers Treatment options irrigation debridement with prosthesis retention, one-stage exchange, two-stage exchange intervening placement an antibiotic-loaded spacer, salvage treatments as arthrodesis amputation. selection dependent on multiple factors including timing symptom onset, patient health, infecting organism, history joint. retention has theoretical advantages decreased morbidity improved return function, provides lower rate recurrent As increases, orthopaedic community should become familiar disease. It hoped that currently will clinicians diagnosing timely fashion allow appropriate treatment. Given planned future research, be prepared effectively manage this increasingly prevalent
