摘要: Abstract Coastal lagoons have significant biodiversity and ecologic socio-economic interest. Several resident migratory birds live in coastal as well fish other aquatic biota. Over the years, worldwide been subject to considerable sediment deposition coming especially from soil erosion due of agricultural activities, lagoon׳s inflows resulted an accelerated sedimentation which can drastically affect ecosystem balance. A new, fast, cost-effective approach was developed, using water surface change a proxy, evaluate rate. In current research, this methodology applied Moulay Bousselham Lagoon Morocco, combination Landsat 8 5 imagery acquired at four points time over 30 years (1985–2015) used. Following geometric correction enhancement, interpretation images provided important insight on conditions Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI). iterations were done determine suitable threshold for effective detection. order validate automatically extracted features, many band combinations Sentinel 2 used references run accuracy assessment. The results show that lost 17.60% (106 ha) its area, 530,000 m3 1,060,000 m3 volume during last three decades. Converting loss into returned rate 0.58 cm/yr. These confirmed by previous field work sedimentological approaches. Proper management should be sustain vitality lagoon environment.
