摘要: With the increasing complexity of medical devices and with efforts to reduce manufacturing costs, challenges arise in joining dissimilar materials. In this study, laser weldability joints between Pt-10 pct Ir 316 low-carbon vacuum melted (LVM) stainless steel (SS) crossed wires was investigated by characterizing weld geometry, joint strength, morphology cross sections, differences behavior, depending on which material is subject incident beam. Pt-Ir alloy top, a significant amount porosity observed surface welds as well throughout sections. This unique form believed be result preferential vaporization LVM SS alloying elements that become mixed molten during welding. The mechanism documented micrographs cross-sectioned found transition from brazing fusion It inferred orientation two metals (i.e., beam) plays an important role quality crossed-wire welds.
