摘要: A Most Probable Number (MPN) method involving Differential Reinforced Clostridial Medium followed by streaking on Willis & Hobbs medium was compared with direct plating of samples Tryptose-Sulphite-Cycloserine agar without egg yolk, and two forms Oleandomycin-Polymyxin-Sulphadiazine-Perfringens agar, one being prepared from a commercial, dehydrated product. With skin taken chicken carcasses at different stages processing, the three media gave similar counts Cl. perfringens whereas results obtained MPN were consistently lower. Although various further processed products usually less than 10/g, showed specificity for this organism. All supported good growth reference strains Clostridium but it found that physiologically species, including absonum, paraperfringens perenne also grew uninhibited in these produced colonies identical those perfringens, thus indicating need confirmatory tests when examining natural samples.
