Exponential law for the equipartition times among translational and vibrational degrees of freedom

摘要: Abstract Boltzmann and Jeans discussed the possibility of explaining classically “freezing” high frequency degrees freedom, in spite its apparent conflict with equipartition principle. Their proposal is based on possible existence extremely long time scales for energy sharing such freedom. This here supported by numerical simulation a simple model diatomic gas. In particular, some evidence produced that conjecture Jeans, exponential dependence frequency, correct.
