摘要: More than 10% of the world's population are at risk schistosomiasis and food-borne trematodiasis an estimated 250 million individuals infected with causative agents, namely trematode worms. Yet, so-called neglected tropical diseases because they affect poorest people world. There only two drugs available for treatment control trematodiasis, praziquantel triclabendazole. Discovered in 1970s 1980s, these show a good safety profile, efficacious after administration single oral doses have become inexpensive. Because global poor, there is little incentive Western pharmaceutical manufacturers to invest development new trematocidal drugs.
