摘要: OBJECTIVE To review the management of metallic intraocular foreign bodies (IOFB) at a single institution and to compare use internal external approaches for their removal. SUBJECTS AND METHODS A retrospective was conducted on 70 eyes from patients who underwent surgical removal IOFB with either an (vitrectomy followed by forceps or magnet use) approach (large electromagnet) seven vitreoretinal surgeons between 1973 1996. Visual acuity complications occurring two were main outcome measures studied. RESULTS Overall, showed significant improvement in visual following intervention (P < 0.001) despite widely varying techniques. When authors compared treated versus they found no statistically difference regard trend toward higher rate postoperative endophthalmitis group. CONCLUSION Surgical results improvement. The magnetic remains viable treatment option select cases.
