摘要: Mottled sculpin, Cottus bairdi, from Lake Michigan are primarily nocturnal feeders that use the mechanoreceptive lateral line system to locate prey. Signals swimming and suspension feeding prey due rhythmic movements of body and/or appendages which produce a current with net water flow (DC) vibratory component (AC) superimposed on it. To determine whether response mottled sculpin is elicited by AC DC components, we tested jets were either an unmodulated or had modulated (AC: 10 20 Hz). Both free-roaming fish been pre-positioned relative stimulus tested. Results indicate sculpins more likely bite at jet nozzle will greater distance for than DC. However, can be conditioned turn toward flow. A trained respond turning nearly cease after few trials (which mainly elicit bites). The results suggest there unconditioned signals training signals.
