摘要: Research has begun to identify elements in the practice environment that influence styles and health outcomes. One key element known physician-patient interaction is type of treatment environment: fee-for-service or maintenance organization. Observers using Davis Observation Code coded 82 encounters private settings 72 a Populations were similar on all demographic measures except age, with organization patients being older. Fee-for-service visits shorter but included more behaviors per observation interval, resulting equivalent total numbers each visit. Health significantly patient questions, preventive services, disease prevention, planning, discussion substance use. Results may have reflected physician gender differences across sites self-selection rather than site differences. These results implications for developing further research explore environment, process, outcome.
