摘要: The traditionally-defined wren genus Thryothorus is notable for its diversity of singing styles with some species producing highly coordinated duets or choruses in various formats while, at the other extreme, songs are performed almost exclusively by males. In this comparative study, we document all 27 so group, relating these to a molecular phylogeny an effort identify conditions that have led evolution duetting and chorus singing. previous used data demonstrate actually paraphyletic, leading us propose splitting into three genera (one newly described) addition . Here show most within each four usually sing same style, tend differ between genera. We also few markedly from those typical their genus. argue exceptional cases will provide important insights origins behavior, tentatively suggest factors may played role determining extent which male female birds combine vocalizations together.
