摘要: There is great potential of storing and improving carbon in tropical agricultural soils by applying ecologically sound management practices. In this study, soil fractions stocks under different practices were studied North Sri Lanka. Five land use types, namely, annual crop organic fertilizer only (A-OF), inorganic (A-IF), + (A-O/IF), perennial crops (PC) a home garden (HG), which tillage applications selected. A abandoned for 20 years (AHG) was included to study no tilled conditions. From the five types A-OF showed highest (SOC) probably as result continuous supply years. Conversely lower SOC other labile observed A-IF due greater decomposition native matter mineral fertilizer. Microbial biomass (MBC) significantly among treatments with (631 mg/kg) A-OF. AHG having litter fall zero maintained content (68 %). Comparatively high water soluble C (0.055/ 0.57 both gardens (HG/ AHG) PC (0.055 could be possibly fresh residues returning whereas return sites. The stable stock (15.40 t/ha) followed (11.17 compared uses. Active (4.34 3.98 t/ha HG. recorded lowest amount active (1.73 t/ha). Soil can improved all uses using application. Inorganic fertilizers improve storage when combined fertilizers. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4038/jnsfsr.v42i1.6679 J.Natn.Sci.Foundation Lanka 2014 42 (1): 37-44
