摘要: Abstract Background Cadmium is a toxic metal and exposure mainly from diet tobacco smoke. accumulated in blood vessels may reduce synthesis of procollagen inhibit proliferation vascular smooth muscle cells. High cadmium has been associated with increased risk myocardial infarction, stroke unruptured intracranial aneurysms. We examined whether increase the subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Methods The Malmo Diet Cancer cohort (n = 28,449) was 1991–1996 samples were taken. Incidence SAH followed up to 2014. measured stored incident cases matched controls (n = 93 vs n = 276) odds ratio (OR) for assessed nested case control design. Results Subjects concentration highest quartile had compared those first (OR: 3.22, 95%CI: 1.67–6.22). However, after adjusting smoking, results weakened non-significant 1.57, 0.51–4.80). Conclusions but this association largely explained by smoking. Whether contribute pathology smokers should be further studied.
