摘要: The development of auditory temporal acuity during infancy was examined in 3-, 6-, and 12-month-old infants adults using the gap detection paradigm. Listeners detected a series gaps, or silent intervals, variable duration broadband noise. In order to vary acoustic frequencies available listener, high-pass noise used mask above specified cutoffs. High-pass maskers with cutoffs 500, 2,000, 8,000 Hz were used. minimum detectable determined Observer-based Psychoacoustic Procedure. thresholds 3- 6-month-olds considerably poorer than those adults, although effect masker condition about same for these 3 groups. 12-month-olds significantly worse when stimulus unmasked cutoff frequency 2,000 Hz. When 500 Hz, fell into 2 groups: some had that as 6-month-olds, while approached adults. second experiment, larger group tested 500-Hz cutoff. Average performance Experiment 1.
