摘要: We provide the first information on behavior of a small primate (Callithrix jacchus) inhabiting semiarid Caatinga environment in northeastern Brazil. observed behavioral variations response to temperature fluctuation throughout day. Due high temperatures, low precipitation, and resource scarcity Caatinga, as well lack physiological adaptations (e.g., highly concentrated urine carotid rete cool down brain) these primates, we expected that common marmosets would exhibit adjustments, such prolonged resting period or use large home range. During six-month period, collected 246 hours data two groups (10 individuals) Callithrix jacchus. Most patterns were influenced by fluctuation. Animals rested longer reduced other activities, foraging, when temperatures higher. Both study exploited ranges 2.21–3.26 ha, which is within range described for Atlantic Forest. Our findings confirm adjust their cope with characterize this highlight ability survive across wide different environmental conditions.
