摘要: A variety of organisms have evolved mechanisms to detect and respond light, in which the response is mediated by protein structural changes after photon absorption. The initial step often photoisomerization a conjugated chromophore. Isomerization occurs on ultrafast time scales substantially influenced chromophore environment. Here we identify associated with earliest steps trans-to-cis isomerization photoactive yellow protein. Femtosecond hard x-ray pulses emitted Linac Coherent Light Source were used conduct time-resolved serial femtosecond crystallography microcrystals over range from 100 femtoseconds 3 picoseconds determine dynamics reaction.
