摘要: Because domoic acid, a neurotoxic secondary metabolite produced by marine diatoms in the genus Pseudo-nitzschia, is hypothesized to be part of high affinity iron uptake system, we investigated whether acid could improve competitive ability Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima, and availability changed outcome competition experiments. We found that had slight negative effect on growth diatom Skeletonema marinoi when it was grown monocultures. However, S. cultured with P. delicatissima presence resulted reduction cells up 38% an increase cell numbers 17% under replete conditions. Similar effects were not observed low treatments. Domoic taken cells. Overall, our results indicate can spp. likely involved. This study provides unusual example indirect inhibition competitor mediated metabolite.
