Regional Impacts of Farm Programs: A Top-Down CGE Analysis

摘要: This paper analyzes the regional impacts of changing a major component national farm policy. Using national-level computable general equilibrium (CGE), we estimate removing deficiency payments, one primary components U.S. programs. We then use two top-down methods regionalization to analyze impacts. While both are easy implement, analysis demonstrates importance accounting for presence local linkages in assessing policy changes. The indicates that elimination payment· program would result efficiency gains at level, but because reallocation resources, nonmetropolitan regions lose and metropolitan gain.
