摘要: This study investigates whether and to what extent cyclooxygenase type-2 (COX-2) inducible nitric oxide-synthase (iNOS), both known have an immunosuppressive effect, are expressed in human ovarian tumors. Because COX-2 iNOS can be by activated macrophages, the presence of tumor-associated macrophages expression these were determined. The results obtained may provide insight into function tumor cells was assessed 18 malignant, 15 borderline, 14 benign tumors immunohistochemical staining frozen tissue sections. intra- peritumoral stained using anti-CD68 monoclonal antibody. Most malignant (15 18), 10 9 showed epithelial cells, a result which indicates that is not exclusive malignancy. In addition, more intense borderline than Weak observed 5 4 number varied widely between different highest (> or =20/0.125 mm(2)) tumors, whereas low moderate macrophage infiltration (5-20/0.125 COX-2-positive found 3 7 1 ranged from 30% total population. Some (4 (5 15), (2 14) contained iNOS-positive macrophages. Notable COX-2- predominantly located stroma, regions lumina when tissue. These data indicate only but also exhibit increased levels expression. small proportion seems state, judged their subpopulation invariably stroma tumor, specifically suggesting outside cytotoxic.
