摘要: When a heavy fluid is placed above light fluid, tiny vertical perturbations in the interface create characteristic structure of rising bubbles and falling spikes known as Rayleigh-Taylor instability. instabilities have received much attention over past half-century because their importance understanding many natural man-made phenomena, ranging from rate formation elements supernovae to design capsules for Inertial Confinement Fusion. We present new approach analyze which we extract hierarchical segmentation mixing envelope surface identify analogous segmentations fields on original plane. compute meaningful statistical information that reveals evolution topological features corroborates observations made by scientists. also use geometric tracking follow single highlight merge/split events leading large complex structures later stages. In particular (i) Provide formal definition bubble; (ii) Segment bubbles; (iii) multi-scale analysis technique produce measures bubble growth; (iv) Correlate measurements with plane; (v) Track individual time. Our based rigorous mathematical foundations Morse theory can be applied more general class applications
