摘要: Contaminating bacteria from the oropharynx and that colonise stomachs of patients with a high gastric pH impede isolation ofCampylobacter pylori biopsy specimens. Commercially available selective supplements are inhibitory to this organism therefore specific medium is needed for isolation. Potential agents were evaluated their activity against 97 strains pylori. A modification Skirrow's was developed; cefsulodin (5 mg/l) substituted polymyxin, amphotericin B added inhibitCandida spp., common contaminant stomach. No inhibited by theCampylobacter it supported growth all compared urease test Gram stained smear. Colonies slightly larger more easily recognised on new those grown chocolate blood agar. This greatly improves could be used alone, without non-selective medium.
