摘要: Study objective: To determine what medical care was required of a special operations response team by community devastated major hurricane. design: Retrospective analysis 1,544 patient encounter forms generated at field hospital set up in Homestead, Florida, after Hurricane Andrew August 1992 and staffed the from Forsyth County, North Carolina. Type participants: All persons presenting for treatment. Results: One thousand two hundred three adult patients 336 pediatric were seen team. Only five injuries treated due directly to hurricane, whereas 285 sustained during clean-up activities. Most provided routine denied citizens loss their physicians' offices clinics. Supplies tetanus toxoid, antibiotics, insulin depleted 24 hours. Resupplying these items acquiring other medication refill prescriptions constituted pressing problem. Conclusion: The primary function personnel responding an area hit hurricane will be provide general care. Any trauma encountered primarily activities not itself. Responding should plan on providing own food water first 72 hours well stocked with insulin.
