摘要: The present study examined the Liverpool database in an attempt to determine what proportion of N0 necks for various head and neck primary sites harbored subclinical squamous cell carcinoma whether empiric treatment occult disease improved survival over above a “wait-and-watch policy” (treatment when metastasis becomes manifest). One hundred seventeen dissections were carried out necks, with 32% specimens found contain carcinoma. risk was highest hypopharynx, 50% associated pyriform fossa cancer. Twenty-nine percent dissection oral cavity cancer contained this commonly lateral border tongue or anterior floor mouth carcinomas. Twenty-five tumor oropharynx due tonsillar Twenty-one laryngeal cancers produced histologically positive nodes mostly posterior epiglottic tumors. Two forty-six patients had these only 37 surgical treatment. Of these, 23 radical dissections, whereas 14 not treated. There no difference between two groups (ξ12 = 0.787, P NS). also 1631 previously untreated clinical evidence node metastases. 107 dissection. 2.79, When data analyzed by multivariate methods (Cox's proportional hazards model) prophylactic have significant effect.
