摘要: Ten years after the Human Genome Project, medicine is still waiting for many of promised benefits, and experts have tempered their high expectations. Public opinion on genetic testing has generally been favourable but this case? The aim study to compare public experiences, beliefs expectations concerning over (2002 vs 2010). A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted using Dutch Health Care Consumer Panel in 2002 2010. Responses questions identical wording were compared. In 2010, 817 (63%) 978 (70%) members responded, respectively. Awareness reported use tests remained stable time. more respondents expected become widely applied, believed that knowledge about background disease helps people live longer, should be promoted intensively. they also interested own make-up. On one hand, concern a dichotomy would emerge between with ‘good genes' ‘bad higher. other thought insurance companies less likely demand test order calculate health premiums. conclusion, results suggest 8 years, benefits potential raised among public, resulting positive opinions. Worries inequity remain, although worries premium differentiation by decreased.
