摘要: Abstract The ideal strength of a defect-free material, which is the stress causing material failure, one fundamental mechanical properties. In this study, we investigate strengths some face-center cubic nanostructures using molecular statics simulations and an elastic stability criterion. simulation results show that depends strongly on loading direction, mode (tension or compression), side surface orientation, shape cross-section, size. Consequently, can exhibit “smaller stronger” trend, weaker” “size-independent plateau” trend. Our semi-analytic model for prediction in good agreement with results.
