摘要: Purpose Impact of mechanical elements may have the devastating effects including material breakdown, abnormal deformation, stiffness lowering and surface wear. In present study it is showed that covering impacted targets by fluid layer will accommodate these absorbing a portion impact energy. Design/methodology/approach In work, drop test machine used to experimentally investigate effect influencing parameters on subsequences. Effect velocity, incidence angle, ball size, target bed oil/water considered. Findings Testing variety oil layers thickness revealed large energy can be damped thickening fluid. The ratio absorbed same water extracted. Results show lower than half in several cases. Moreover, theoretical relations are extracted from experimental data which give absorption rubber contrast steel also dry impact. Originality/value This paper includes investigating specimen new apparatus. Layers been compared.
