摘要: The purpose of this chapter is to investigate the means by which firms capture value in open platform systems. I begin arguing that surplus created complementarities within a technical system will be split among owners unique and essential components—the strategic bottlenecks system. However, most platforms must also execute series steps are subject “flow production” bottlenecks. Finding fixing these flow another way value. In addition, two types improvements provide further opportunities for capture. “Accelerators” speed up processing options, while “subsidiary” increase range options available users. Finally, members or new entrants may seek supplant owner bottleneck “disintermediating” components. describe four generic methods disintermediation: substitution; reverse engineering; independent complements; envelopment.
