摘要: In this second part of a two-part paper, the failure mechanism polypropylene (PP)/nanoclay composite under fracture loads is presented. The PP/nanoclay was prepared via melt compounding in twin-screw extruder. Maleic anhydride grafted (MA-g-PP) used as compatibilizer to improve dispersability clay. PP/clay nanocomposite characterized by XRD and SEM. results show possibilities exfoliation, SEM studies rule out large-scale particle agglomeration. Fractographic observations at lower loading rates reveal that excessive fibrillation impregnated fibrils arrest crack propagation, occurs void initiation larger clay particles. As rate increases, crazes combined with voids accelerate propagation. At higher rates, cleavage type brittle observed.
